You’re getting wildly overcharged for wings, so save some $$$ and make these Oven Baked Chicken Wings at home.
When I saw how much these chicken wings were, I had to grab a pack. Now, we always keep a pack on hand for when we’re craving wings. The chicken wing selection around here is LACKING (sorry Washington, NY just does it better) so we’ve been dearly missing our old spots. These oven baked chicken wings remind me of NY wings – minus the frying, just place on a grate and bake.
Keep It Simple
If under-seasoning is possible, so is over-seasoning. That’s why whenever I make these wings, I keep them simple, seasoning with just salt and pepper. My rule of thumb for seasoning meats is, use a teaspoon of salt per pound and about a 1/2 tsp black pepper per pound. For these wings, that’s all I’m adding because the sauce I choose will have salt, pepper, and more seasonings.
Where to Get Chicken Wings
You know what store has a crazy good selection of meats and seafood? Costco. There are a few grocery stores I would trust to get chicken wings from too, but Costco seems to have really high quality meats for really low prices. Not an AD, I just love Costco lol
Sauce for the Chicken Wings
Use whatever sauce you’d like. I really like making our own wing sauces or we use whatever condiments we have laying around. Some of my favorite ways to sauce my wings are:
- Quick Jerk Sauce – using Walkerwoods
- BBQ Sauce – using Sweet Baby Ray’s No Sugar Added Hickory Sauce
- Garlic Parmesan – using minced garlic, grated parmesan, butter, salt and parsley
- Buffalo Hot Sauce – using Franks Red Hot and butter
Whatever sauce you choose, add it right after you remove the chicken wings from the oven. After adding the sauce, dig in! Enjoy and as usual if you make this recipe, leave a comment below to let me know how it went!

Basic Chicken Wings
- Cooking Spray
- 1 lb Chicken Wings
- Salt + Pepper
- Sauce of Your Choice
Garlic Parmesan Sauce
- ¼ Cup Butter
- ¼ Cup Grated Parmesan, plus extra
- Parsley
- Salt + Pepper
Instructions
Baked Chicken Wings
- Preheat oven to 450°F. Place the wire grate on the baking sheet and spray the sheet with cooking oil. *
- Rinse your wings and pat them as dry as you can. Season with salt and pepper, then line your wings up on the wire rack. Make sure they're not touching, with space between each wing.
- Bake for 30 minutes, until skin is brown and crispy. Remove from oven and sauce, then serve immediately.
Garlic Parmesan Sauce
- Melt the butter and then allow it to cool. Whisk in the parmesan, add salt and pepper for taste. Sprinkle in parsley then pour over the wings.
Notes
- Try to spray only where you'll be placing the wings. If you over spray, your stove will get smoky.
